Arquine: Shelters for immigrants
Evidence a problem. How can a shelter for the displaced and refugees become an indicator? How to translate this migration statistic to an element in the landscape?
Mexico is a key country in terms of displacement, not only because of its geographical position, but also because of the various migratory flows that take place in it, receiving hundreds of people daily traveling through the country as a way of return or return, or even those who arrive to stay. Based on this, the design of a shelter is proposed for Central American migrants who converge in the country in their transit to the United States, and go to the migrant's houses to request asylum, food and assistance of various kinds.
The proposal for the Arquine contest: Shelters for immigrants consists of a modular building that is embedded as a parasite in one of the strategic points of the route that migrants take on their route: the north central part of the State of Mexico in Lechería, Municipality of Tultitlan The building is a constant construction of modules that are assembled and disassembled according to the migratory demand thanks to two permanent construction cranes in place. The higher the demand, the larger the building and this translates into a statistic visible in the landscape.
